Day 109 of Firsts: Play Wii Sports

18 Apr

There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million. ~Walt Streightiff

I’ve come to believe , to do a “first” every day, you have to challenge the child in you to come out and play.

When we’re kids, we are so open to doing something new.  New things are just naturally part of a child’s every day life.  That’s part of what makes kids so alive and vibrant and energetic. Everything is an adventure, (except going to bed, eating broccoli and cleaning their rooms).

As adults, we really do forget how to just get down on the floor and play sometimes.  So it was pure fun getting to hang out with David (age 7) and Sophia ( age 10 + 1/2) today.

I’d never played Wii Sports before and they agreed to help me with this First.  (Watch for David. He’s the photographer.)

Sophia was not happy with her brother loosing interest in us and focusing on the dog. She took up the camera while we switched to bowling.

Wii was interesting, but we had just as much fun playing with an old fashioned etch a sketch, and legos. Then I amazed them with my bent spoon magic trick (see day 105).  (Hope David’s mom and dad don’t get mad when he accidentally bends some spoons. Blame it on me.)

We only had an hour together and time flew.

I was glad David and Sophia just reminded me again, even adults need to have plenty of  play time.
