Day 138 of Firsts: Sew a Button Correctly

18 May

Really I don’t dislike to cook, but what you cook is eaten so quickly. When you sew, you have something that will last to show for your efforts. ~Elizabeth Travis Johnson

I don’t know how to sew. I never took home economics in school.(I was taking typing thinking a  reporter doesn’t need to know how to sew. How wrong I was.)

I was about to take a blazer to the dry cleaners just to sew a button on. Then I thought “that’s ridiculous!”  Surely it can’t be too hard.

In this year of firsts, I will tackle sewing on a button properly. First I had to buy a sewing kit. Then I studied some youtube videos on the subject.

Well, I’ve discovered one thing. You can find a video on the internet to show you how to do almost anything.   And two: it’s not hard to sew a button.

My next big domestic challenge? : Learning how to fold a fitted sheet. Stay tuned.
